Welcome to the Hobart Photographic Society.

The Hobart Photographic Society (HPS) is based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

We organise monthly meetings, excursions, workshops, competitions and exhibitions - for full details see our Club Meetings and Club Events sections.

Annual Club Exhibition

The 2010 Club Exhibiton was a great success with a large number of diverse images exhibited. Overall attendance of the exhibiton was 2481. Many thanks to all club members who assisted with the event and those who exhibited imaged. Special thanks to all the sponsors who generously helped us stage the event.

Maatsuyker Island

Friends of Maatsuyker Island are running 2 trips this Autumn 2010. They have a few places left on their trip in a fortnight: 20th or 21st March. Or the second trip which is 10th or 11th or 24th or 25th April.

Photo Competition

The Woodbridge Online Access Centre is having their annual fundraising event. They are conducting a photographic competition / exhibition. There are several sections including; Open colour & mono, Portrait, Landscape, Creative, etc. The event will be on the 12th & 13th of June at the Woodbridge Hall, 10am - 3pm.

Projects for 2010

Members are invited to work on a portfolio in 2010.

There is also a Private Facebook Group running for PoGO members.

 

PIG 2010

The Portrait Interest Group (PIG) will be running again in 2010.

There has been a big response to PIG 2010, so membership has now been closed.

Additional names will be accepted and places in PIG 2010 offered only as people drop out of the group.

Gallery images

Members posting images on the galleries are encouraged to share information about how each image has been processed. This information is of great interest to many club members. Please enter information about any processing of images in the decription field when posting images. Please also configure your editing software to retain EXIF data in any processed images so others can see basic camera settings for each image.

Photo Equipment.

Margaret Morgan has been approached to see if any society members are interested in some old Photographic Equipment. Click here to see photos of the equipment. If you are interested in anything, please contact Margaret. 

 

Goulburn St Gallery.

Ian Jeanneret and Wolfgang Glowacki have opened a new gallery, located on the corner of Goulburn and Molle Sts.

 

Epson/NZIPP Iris Professional Photography Awards.

On the 24th of August HPS member Paul Hoelen was announced as the winner of five awards at the Epson/NZIPP Iris Professional Photography Awards in New Zealand. See Paul's blog for more details. Congratulations Paul.
