Coming Events:
HPS Conference - NovemberThank you so much for all the kind words received about the conference. It was great fun and I am pleased everyone enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. The speakers were fantastic and we met other Tassie Club members from around the state so it was good to welcome them and I know they enjoyed it as much as our own members. Thanks to Susan I see we have some record shots on Facebook today so take a look at those and enjoy the memories. Maybe we can consider doing this again in 2012 so we will see how we all feel about that next year.- Margaret Morgan
General Meeting - 15th Dec at 7:30pmOur meeting in December will be fairly short which will give us time to have a drink or two in the bar afterwards if anyone would like to join us for a Xmas drink so I had better warn Hadleys that might happen around 8.45pm I hope. We do have trophies to present and Phil Hallam has very kindly agreed to do a presentation for us on his creative work that we have all been watching and enjoying through the Creative Group on Facebook so that will really be something to look forward to. Also, Gustavo will give us a heads up on the exhibition at the Waterside Pavilion in February next year. We will also have some trophies to present that night so it should be an enjoyable evening all round.
Christmas Barbecue - Wentwork ParkAll members of HPS and their families are invited to a Xmas BBQ at Wentworth Park , Howrah on 18th December 2011 at 3.30pm. There are plenty of free BBQ's there so if we are lucky enough to get one it will be a bonus but as this is a popular place around Xmas time for BBQ's Plan B will be for members who own one to bring it along so we won't miss out. Let me know if you are coming and can help out with a portable BBQ as we would need a couple just in case. It is a BYO everything and it should be great fun. After the BBQ and when it is getting a bit closer to the evening and we have finished socialising we can go down to Lauderdale or Clifton Beach and take some sunset shots before we depart for home. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
Exhibition at the Waterside Pavilion - 2012Well it's here again...the grand annual photographic exhibition where every HPS member gets to showcase their work. We invite every member to register their intention to come and exhibit. The exhibition committee will shortly be posting details of how to enter into this one, what the requirements are, where to get prints and matting done and all the information you could possibly need for a successful exhibit. We will ask that intending exhibitors pre-register before the end of this year as numbers are limited and we hope to avoid the last minute rush (and associated punch ups between committee members). There will be a limit to how many prints each member can enter, initially this number will be 5 per member, however pending the number of registrations , we may have to lower the total entries per member (this is to cater for finite space in the gallery and the set number of frames we have available). There is also a projected image display (well a fancy TV) and we can accept images for this, but only if you also submit prints (the projected and printed images can be different). Please note we will not be able to accept prints that are not the standard exhibition size (20inch x 16inch) format. For new members or those that have not exhibited before , we will have a presentation of what to do at the next club meeting in December. If you intend on participating please let myself, Phil O'Halloran or Susan Styles know by E-Mail if you are not a member on Facebook where you can register by accepting as a YES in the RSVP. If you are a MAYBE remember once we are full we are full.
Art Wolfe Coming to AustraliaArt Wolfe will be visiting Australia for the first time in 2012. He is not coming to Hobart but will be in Melbourne 16th and 17th March 2012.if anyone is interested in his lecture and seminar Here is a web link.
Facebook ChallengesOur new Facebook Challenges Group page has taken off at a fantastic rate and looks as if it is a winner with members. This is proving very helpful especially for inexperienced photographers who can learn so much from more experienced members so it is great to see this happening.
HPS Website activityThere has been ongoing work with the new website. After a successful migration to the new provider, I am pleased to advise that all of the new database, framework & portal modules are tested. We are now ready to migrate existing pages and content to the new framework for final user test.
