Competition Rules

Entries may be theme-based or open, but theme-based entries attract a 15% bonus.

Entries for the monthly competitions must be submitted at the previous month's meeting, e.g., February Entries must be submitted at the January meeting.

Download the Rules document in Adobe PDF format. Read this for information on print and mount sizes, etc.

A description of the method used by HPS for competition judging is attached.

Each month you may enter up to 2 photographs in any of these sections:

  • Large colour print
  • Monochrome print
  • Small print
  • Projected image (digital or slide, colour or mono)
  • Novice print
  • Novice projected image
PLEASE NOTE:
Prints may not exceed 20" x 16" including mount. Maximum size for small prints is 10" x 8" including mount. Digital images must not exceed 800 pixels along their longest edge, must be saved in jpeg format and may not have a file size of more than 200kb.

The photographer of the year in each section will be decided on the photographer's best 15 scores.

All entries must clearly show the submitting member's number, image title and the section entered. As competition entries are judged anonymously, members should not put their names on the entries. Membership numbers are printed on the cards members receive after paying their annual subscription.
